Care for the Caregiver

At Boulder Acupuncture and Herbs, we understand the challenges of being a primary caregiver. Whether you are a spouse, child, friend, or even an employee of an older adult with compromised health, the daily stress of caring for someone so intimately can impact your personal wellbeing.

Our acupuncture practice is designed to address the needs of elders as well as the people who care for them. We offer home visits so that seniors and caregivers can be treated side-by-side. We also provide group acupuncture out of Frasier Meadows Retirement Community in Boulder so that caregivers can bring their loved ones in for treatment while they receive acupuncture as well.

Most importantly, we respect and understand what caregivers do on a daily basis. Our goal is to support you in creating a healthy life in and beyond your role as a caregiver. We believe that by nurturing caregivers, we build strength, resiliency, and compassion into our community.

If you’re providing the kindness of caregiving, adding acupuncture to your healthcare routine is a great way to take care of yourself, body and mind. For more info on what acupuncture can do for caregivers, see Care for the Caregiver.

Acupuncture for Patients Under 70

We treat patients of all ages.

The difference between treating elders and younger patients is the amount of time needed for the diagnostic intake and needle retention. Older adults typically rest with the needles in for 20 minutes, while younger patients benefit by having needles in for 30 minutes or more.

Your practitioner can educate you on the type and length of treatment that will bring the best results. For patients under 70, the following treatment options are available:

Private Treatment

  • 75-minute initial intake and treatment: $95
  • 60-minute follow-up treatment: $80

Community Acupuncture Treatment

  • 60-minute initial intake and treatment: $40
  • 45- or 60-minute follow-up treatment: $30

We look forward to helping you find the right treatment strategy for your age and condition.

Coordinating Help for a Loved One

Boulder Acupuncture and Herbs provides your loved one with professional, caring service. Our acupuncturist can visit patients in their homes, minimizing the need for transportation, or in our office or community acupuncture clinic. Knowing that your loved one is receiving symptom relief and personal connection with our acupuncturist can be a great comfort, especially if you live outside the Boulder area.

We understand that helping an older adult with health concerns includes teaming up with friends, family, and caregivers to provide the most benefit to the patient. We make it easy for caregivers to help their loved one receive acupuncture. Caregivers can work with us over e-mail or phone to discuss treatment options, and we can even arrange payment from afar.

As one caregiver said of our work:

Norah has been treating my 95-year-old-mother at Frasier Meadows for nearly a year. Norah’s treatment is a true high point for my mother each week. Acupuncture helps to relieve pain and also helps to calm and relax her. Acupuncture, provided by Norah with great care and kindness, is a real benefit.

Call or e-mail us today to discuss if acupuncture is a good choice for your loved one.
